Keyless Entry
The days of twisting a key into a lock are slowly disappearing, and the majority of new cars come with keyless entry. This means that you can lock the car by pressing an electronic fob or pulling a door handle, meaning that your hands are free and that you don't have to look around in your bag for the keys.
The system operates by transmitting a radio signal that is picked up by the key fob, which in turn sends a reply signal back to the car. The car will then recognize this and either open the doors, or turn on the interior lighting (if it is programmed to do this).
Certain types of keyless entry don't use a fob at all and instead use an application on a smartphone that can send signals directly to the car. This is also referred to as a phone-as key, or a digital-key. It's an excellent way to let other drivers access your car without having to hand over keys.
There have been cases of car thefts using keyless entry systems. To prevent this you should consider purchasing an anti-theft device to your key fob called Secure A-Key. This will disable the battery on your remote control when it's not moved for a period of minutes, making it much more difficult to steal the car.
Start and Exit System
When you return to your vehicle with a wet coat from the field or a wet shopping bag, Skoda's Simply Clever features are here to help. This includes a clever boot mat that doubles as a second side in the Karoq that's made of fabric on one side and plastic on the other, securing the floor from getting dirty or wet.
Modern keyless entry systems, also known as KESSY control units, include an additional layer of security built-in to safeguard your vehicle. The system checks that the correct key has been used to start the engine and, if it wasn't, the immobilizer would be activated. This stops the car from starting by preventing different actions, including disabling the ignition coil, injectors or fuel pump.

You'll see an alert light on your dashboard if the immobilizer has been activated. This is a serious problem and you should consult an expert for diagnosis.
The modern keyless entry system is protected by a variety of sensors that include a door handle sensor. This sensor is situated inside the two front doors and is waiting for a trigger like the insertion of the key or a button press on the tailgate. If the trigger is detected, a signal is sent to the car's control unit, and it opens the doors and then starts the engine. The Kodiaq, Superb, Octavia and Enyaq have the same system, known as Area View that uses cameras to display different perspectives of your car's immediate surroundings on your car's monitor.
Remote Control Window Winding
If your skoda's window winding is not working properly, the problem could be due to a defective motor or switch. If the switch is at fault, use a multimeter and check the continuity of the power and ground cables connected to the motor. It is best to get power to both wires when you press the switch. If it doesn't, the switch is likely to be defective.
If you're unable to fix the problem you're advised to call an auto electrician to get help. They will be able to fix the window winding on your Skoda Octavia and make sure that everything is in operating order. You may also contact an skoda dealer in your area regarding the issue.
Electric windows function the same as manual windows, except they have a motor which turns them up and down instead of a handle. The motor is connected to windows by two circuits that have one switch position and circuit drive it in one direction (window up) and the other switch position and circuit drives it the other way (window down). The switches' contacts are connected to the power supply that is then connected to a motor to complete the actual winding. A large plate is equipped with gear teeth cut into it and the motor spins an gear that engages these teeth when the window is raised. When the window is lower, the gear is disengaged, and the handle can be moved around freely.
Multi-function steering wheel
Many functions have been transferred to the steering wheel, away from the dashboard and console so that you can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. The steering wheel comes with radio controls, cruise control and other functions. This intelligent solution increases the safety of the car for both the driver as well as the passengers.
The two-spoke wheel was first introduced in the fourth generation OCTAVIA, and is now fitted to the majority of SKODA vehicles. It's sleek and modern and also allows various variations such as a three-spoke version.
"We wanted to keep the centre of the steering wheel as tidy as possible, both to make the logo stand out and also to avoid a feeling of clutter," says designer Marwan Khiat. The steering wheel has 14 buttons that regulate the functions of the vehicle. All of them are clearly marked. The buttons can be operated with one click. This makes it simple to use, and you don't have to remove your hands from the steering wheel.
The steering wheel can be equipped with controls for air conditioning and a heating function for the winter. Additionally, it is compatible with the CAN bus system to enable integration of multimedia functions, such as radio, Bluetooth and a USB connection.
Ambient Lighting
You can shut all of your windows with just a single button. This makes it easy to get in the car in the heat and cool off in no time. This same function can be used to synchronise the operation of your sunroof and ensure that it closes when you lock the car.
You can personalize your home with ambient lighting by altering the colour illumination of the sides or the dashboard. Based on your mood, you can select from a range of 10 colours and intensities to create the ideal atmosphere.
LED lighting is more efficient and emits less heat than incandescent bulbs. This reduces the energy consumption of your vehicle and reduces CO2 emissions.
In an emergency, your vehicle can send an information about its location to an emergency center with other important information. This information helps rescue services locate your vehicle and respond as swiftly as they can. try this out is only one of the many services offered by eCall, which you can activate or renew by using the MySkoda application.
Umbrella Storage
Ever been caught out by the weather and forgotten to bring an umbrella? That's unlikely be a problem if you have a Skoda Superb Combi. There's a storage compartment in each of the front doors (except for the driver's side) which is just the right size for storing an umbrella. That way you can avoid getting soaked once you exit the car when you stop.
It's a minor detail, but it can make a huge difference. When you open the door and walk in, the umbrella will be waiting for you. And when you're driving, it'll stay out of the way and not get in your path. It's one of many clever ways to show just how much thought goes into a Skoda.
You can also keep your drinks nearby with a drink holder on each of the doors. There's even an holder for washer fluid bottles with a handy funnel, so you can top up your fluid and not spill it all everywhere.
There's a clever way to help you cool your car after a long trip. When you push the unlock button on the key fob, all windows will automatically reduce in size. It's an innovative feature that can help reduce stress while driving.
